Thomas Boniface has topped a very tight qualifying session at Hampton Downs for round four of the ITM NZ Formula Ford Championship. Boniface’s time was just 0.050s faster than the second-placed Zac Stichbury.

Billy Frazer will start on the second row in third alongside Callum Crawley in fourth. Kaleb Ngatoa set the fifth-fastest time after seemingly overcoming a raft on ongoing engine issues.

In his just first outing at Hampton Downs, James Penrose the championship leader will start sixth ahead of Ronan Murphy. Motor racing legend Ken Smith joins the field this weekend and will start eighth ahead of Kim Crocker and Cameron Tanner.

Martin Lucas, Tony Graham and Nick Buxeda rounded out the field.
